(WWJ) The Detroit Police Department is asking for help from the public to identify the victim of a homicide on the city’s east side.
Police reached out on Facebook on Wednesday, asking people to share a photo of the young man, taken from surveilence footage at a gas station in the city.
Police said the John Doe — who is believed to be between 18 and 21 years old — was shot and killed Sept. 1, 2021, in the area of East 7 Mile Rd. and Hayes.
Police are asking for tips to identify the victim, as well as any family members. They did not say if there have been any arrests, or if there are any suspects in the case.
Meanwhile, there’s been an outpouring of sympathy on social media.
Kristin Crouse commented: “This was someone’s child. I’m praying for his family, and praying for justice.”
Wendy Easterbrook added: “These killings of our young men and women need to stop!!”
Anyone who can identify the man, or who may have other helpful information should contact the DPD’s Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260.
