French President Emmanuel Macron is one of 14 heads of state whose phone numbers were listed in a weapons grade spyware system.
The Pegasus Project, created and licensed by Israeli company, NSO Group, was allegedly used to hack the phones of government officials, journalists and human rights activists.
The spyware firm has claimed the French leader was not targeted by any of its clients.
Other important figures named in the records include Pakistan’s prime minister, South Africa’s president, and the World Health Organisation’s director general.
