NIGERIAN YOUTHS, GET UP, STOP WAITING AND START DOING SOMETHING:
To my fellow Nigerian youths: Time to stop giving excuses. Time to stop complaining and whining. Time to get our acts together. Time to stop pointing accusing finger and blaming the government. Time to stop blaming the economy. Time to stop waiting and depending on your parents, siblings, uncles, Aunts and friends. Time to stop begging and borrowing. Time to stop waiting for manna to fall from heaven. Time to stop this mad rush to travel out of the country. Time to stop lazying about. Time to get up from your bed and couch and get to work. Time to drop that computer and stop scamming people of their hard earned money. Time to leave social media and do something with your life. There is more to life than posting fake and doctored pictures, you get a few likes and comments and what next? Will that put food on the table for you. Yes, there is no job in Nigeria, we all know that. Yes, it takes man know man to get a job in Nigeria. Yes, we know you graduated three years ago now and you have no job. Yes I know you have been applying. Yes I know there are no opportunities in Nigeria. Yes I know you are waiting for that your rich family member to help you. Yes I know you don’t want to do anything else but to travel abroad as if there manna will fall from heaven for you. Yes, you are from a poor family. Yes your parents are dead, you are an orphan. Yes my brothers and sisters, in-laws don’t want to help me. By the way, do they owe you anything? Quit the complain and excuses, spare me that self pity. Start taking responsibility for your life and future. Stop waiting for people. Apart from your parents, no one else wants you to succeed or to be greater and better than them. Nobody is thinking about you. Everyone is focusing on themselves. Begin to figure out what to do with your life. Time waits for nobody. If you are waiting for them to help you, you will wait in eternity. Get up and begin to take risk, create a road map for your life and future. SOME SUGGESTIONS: Tailoring, poultry, farming, Pastoral farming(goat, cow, rabbit, snail, fish rearing), learning trade or business, teaching in primary and secondary schools, learning skilled work like plumbing, painting, dry cleaning, watch/phone and computer repairs, Radio/Television/ refrigerator, Air condition repairs and installations, Taxi driving, catering, chef, event planning, security, electrician, interior decoration, learning how to play music instruments, fashion and designing, drawing, petty businesses like recharge card sales, road side cooking, baking and selling confectioneries, mechanic(car, motorcycle etc). These are some of the things we can do on our own. White collar job is not meant for everyone. You have to be humble to do these things. You have to start somewhere. Life changes. The problem is that everyone wants to work in shell and be paid in dollars. Everyone wants to work in bank and sit all day under AC. The question is what are you good at? Discover what you are good at and it will lead you to your destiny and purpose in life. Time waits for nobody. Find something doing that would fetch you some money. No more excuses. You want to live big but you don’t want to make a move, every time you are begging people for money. Leave social media, go and hustle. Stop depending on people. Be your own boss. Create job for others instead. Let those people who don’t want to help you know that you can make it on your own. Do not be ashamed of what you do. As much as money comes from it, this is for those who are ashamed to be a mechanic, plumber, welder, etc. To be a man is not easy. It’s not day’s job. If being dirty is the only way money can come, so be it, go dirty and take a shower later. When you will be enjoying your money, no one will even care about your dirt. That’s how rich, successful people began. From little till they explode.
