We can never underestimate the power of giving. Every religion under the face of the earth agrees unanimously that there is a special blessing and reward that comes from giving. Most of the wealthiest people in the world are generous givers. Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple said he will be giving out his 800 million dollar fortune to charity before he dies. Bill Gates is one of the world’s most philanthropic figure. He is known for his charity all over the world especially in third world countries. The more we give, the more we receive. We are enriched by how far we are able to enrich others. No one has ever become poor from giving. No one is too poor that they don’t have something to give. Givers never lack. It takes a generous person to give. Giving is an antidote against attachment to material wealth. It takes a selfless person to give. Giving is sharing. We came into this world empty handed and we take nothing with ourselves when we die. Giving is not only about money or material things. It can be our time, talent and resources.
Giving opens doors of success and attracts favors. According to the Christian bible, precisely in the book of Tobit. Giving purges away sins and saves from death. Apostle Paul reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver. He admonishes us not to give out of sadness or compulsion. He also said that any one who gives sparingly will reap sparingly. Anyone who gives bountifully will reap bountifully. Jesus said, give and gifts will be given to you, a good measure, shaken together, running over will be poured into your lap. Giving is a sacred act. A poor widow in the gospel was praised by Jesus for giving her little and her last. Whatever we have in this life are all blessings from God. One of the ways we thank him for all those blessings is to use them to bless those in need. Whatever we give to people, it is to God we are giving it to. Any good we do for others, we are indirectly doing it for ourselves and in some way, it will come back to us. Let us look out for those who need help and give instead of waiting for them to come to us. Give and expect nothing in return. Let us not be indifferent to those in most need of help; the poor, the hungry, the naked and the homeless. Sharing is caring. Giving is living. Generosity and benevolence makes life beautiful. Blessed is the hand that gives…..
